1. About this statement

BusinessID is provided by Identity Stack A/S, C. A. Olesens Gade 4, 9000 Aalborg, Denmark (CVR no. 42894389) ("Identity Stack", "we", "us").

This statement covers the BusinessID app for iOS and Android and the website businessid.eu. It explains how accessible they are, what we know does not yet work well, and what to do if something gets in your way.

It does not cover Service Providers' websites and apps that you reach through BusinessID, or your verification method (in Denmark, MitID; or a European Digital Identity wallet). Each of those has its own accessibility statement.

2. Our commitment

Proving who you are should not depend on how you see, hear, move or think. We build BusinessID to work with a screen reader, magnification, larger text, voice control, switch access and keyboard-only use, and for people who need more time or plainer language. Accessibility is part of how we design and test the app, not something we add afterwards.

3. The standard we work to

We work to WCAG 2.2 Level AA and EN 301 549, the European standard for accessible ICT. In Denmark these are the requirements behind the Act on Accessibility Requirements for Products and Services (Lov om tilgængelighedskrav for produkter og tjenester), which implements the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882).

4. How accessible BusinessID is

BusinessID is in beta. It has been built against WCAG 2.2 Level AA, but it has not yet been formally assessed, so we do not claim conformance.

Before full rollout we will have the app and website assessed, publish the result here, and list anything that does not meet the standard together with a date for fixing it.

Until then, this is what we design and test for during development, and what you can expect to work:

  • Screen readers: VoiceOver (iOS), TalkBack (Android), and common desktop screen readers on the website.
  • Your system text size, without text being cut off or overlapping.
  • Every action completable without a precision gesture or a mouse.
  • AA colour contrast; colour never the only way information is shown.
  • Your "reduce motion" setting.
  • PIN for every confirmation; device face or fingerprint unlock is optional.

If any of these does not hold for you, that is a bug — tell us (section 7).

5. Known limitations

Because BusinessID has not yet been assessed, this list is what we know today, not a complete inventory.

The identity check with a passport or identity document has two steps that are hard to make fully accessible: holding the document to the phone to read its chip, and recording a short live video of your face while following on-screen prompts. If you cannot complete them, see section 6.

Some content is supplied by others and is outside our control: the MitID and wallet screens you authenticate in, and the pages of Service Providers.

6. Alternatives if something does not work for you

  • Identity check. If the document route is not workable for you, verify with a national electronic ID or a European Digital Identity wallet instead. No biometric check is involved.
  • A failed check. Ask a person at Identity Stack to review it: support@identitystack.dk. We will not refuse you an account on an automated decision alone.
  • Any other step. Contact support and we will complete it with you or offer another way. This costs nothing.

7. Tell us about a problem

Write to support@identitystack.dk. It helps if you tell us what you were trying to do, which screen you were on, your device and operating system, and any assistive technology you use.

We acknowledge within 5 working days and aim to fix the problem, or give you a working alternative, within 30 days. We reply in Danish and English.

8. If you are not satisfied

If we have not put it right, you can take it to the authority responsible for enforcing accessibility requirements for digital services in your country. In Denmark, that is [the Danish Agency for Digital Government (Digitaliseringsstyrelsen) — confirm; enforcement under the Act is split between several authorities]. You can also complain to the Equal Treatment Board (Ligebehandlingsnævnet) about discrimination on the basis of disability.

9. Changes to this statement

We review this statement at least once a year, and whenever we release a change that affects accessibility. We will replace this statement with a full one, based on a formal assessment, before BusinessID leaves beta. The current version is always at businessid.eu/accessibility-statement.
